This paper approaches scientific discovery from the point of view of the practice of scientific communities, not from that of individual action. Two congenial proposals are presented to evaluate their fruitfulness. The implications of Thomas Kuhn's thesis on the subject of scientific discovery are explored and his epistemology is articulated with proposals stated by theorists coming from sociocultural studies of science such as Augustine Brannigan in The social basis of sienctific discovery.
