This paper attempts to systematize certain epistemological and ethical-methodological issues that surface in an ethnographic practice in contexts of violence linked to football. We look into the conditions of production and reproduction of scientific knowledge constructed intersubjectively in ethnographic fieldwork crossed by violence and illegality, as is the case of ethnography among football fans in Argentina. The initial trigger for the article is an incident from my own fieldwork: a fractured toe on my left foot which was the result of a blow with a stick from the Santa Fe police, after a match between Colon and Belgrano de Cordoba on August 18th 2012
