Abstract

GONZALEZ, Luis. Heredarás el bronce: Incas y metalurgia En el Sur del valle de Yocavil. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2002, n.3, pp.54-69. ISSN 1850-373X.

Most authors agree that one of the main economic goals of the Inca state's annexation of Northwest Argentina was to take advantage of its mineral wealth. In the few studies of this issue, the development level of local technological systems has received scarce consideration. In this paper, it is maintained that the increase in production activity of metal items in some regions of the Northwest under Inca domination not only relied on organizational changes, but also on the training and ability of the local workforce. Data obtained in research carried out in a metallurgical workshop from the settlement of Rincón Chico in the southern Yocavil valley are indicative in this respect.
