In this paper, results of the first fabric and pigment analyses applied to a sample of Portezuelo-style sherds are presented. This style is widely distributed in Choya 68 site (Capayán Department, Catamarca Valley). Iconographic variations, fabric petrographic descriptions and elemental composition of pigments are discussed. Furthermore, advances in the knowledge of the thermal manufacturing process and the local or non-local characteristics of the pottery production are presented.
