Archaeological and geoarchaeological work carried out at Cabo Virgenes (Santa Cruz Province) identified the presence of Late Holocene archaeological evidence. This cultural material was located mainly in an extended soil that corresponds to a regional climatic fluctuation that occurred ca. 1000 BP. The chronological and distributional implications of this soil with respect to past and present human activities allow us to contextualize the archaeological evidence in both the temporal and spatial dimensions. It also provides a way to evaluate the consequences of recent disturbance of human origin on different landforms throughout the landscape and their archaeological record.
