Abstract

HERMO, Darío  and  MIOTTI, Laura. El efecto zoom para relacionar los desechos líticos de un sitio y los paisajes arqueológicos de cazadores recolectores del Holoceno en la meseta central de Santa Cruz. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2003, n.4, pp.111-121. ISSN 1850-373X.

Discussion of the presence of bifacial tools in the archaeological contexts of the Middle Holocene from Central Plateau, Santa Cruz province, is already more than half a century old. In this paper, we intend to contribute to this discussion through the techno morphological analysis of the lithic debris from the upper component of AEP-1 site, Piedra Museo. The sample contains the total debitage from work using the silex called variety MV, whose primary source is Laguna D, 7 km from AEP-1, another of the analysed sites. The methodology includes, on one hand, concepts from landscape archaeology, which have allowed us to relate different information, such as that from a stratigraphic or surface sites in order to link the information and test the hypotheses generated by other authors for the spatio-temporal framework under study. On the other hand, we refer to the procedures that enabled the analysis of the lithic technology. Based on new hypotheses, a «zoom effect» is attempted to relate these hypotheses on local and regional levels with the results formulated by other authors, integrating the new information into discussions of technology and the appropriation of lithic raw materials during the Middle Holocene, and testing the hypotheses produced on such scales.
