Results from a spatial and stratigraphic study of a coastal site (~31º 50' S) with two human occupations are discussed. The first occupation is attributed to the beginnings of the Papudo Complex, a transitional period between the early and mid Holocene, while the second corresponds to the late Holocene. Both are hunter-gatherer settlements. An eventual third occupation is represented by evidence of extinct fauna (Mylodon sp. and Palaeolama sp.), the bones of which appear to exhibit human-originated marks. Site formation processes and the depositional history of the site are methodologically evaluated, with special regard given to the cultural components.
