The transition from centenary desire to a regional integration project and from an approved work to a work under construction experienced by the recently inaugurated Rosario-Victoria bridge involved a set of resignifications regarding the social shaping of its necessity. Nonetheless, the above mentioned transformations were made possible by certain social actors' work - posited as political work. In this sense, what we might call the social process of consensus production regarding the building of this viaduct (a public road of almost 60 km, connecting two cities located in the Argentinean states of Santa Fe and Entre Ríos through the Paraná River valley), appears as a privileged opportunity to analyze the articulation of the native categories of political work and necessity. In this paper, we analyze the process through which a huge public road became part of a small village population's horizon, focusing the subject from the point of view of those actors who are considered to be politically responsible for the realization of the public work. In order to do this, we examine the articulation of political work, knowledge and necessity, analyzing the production of knowledge that differentially situates those who possess such knowledge.
