Basalt secondary quarries were surveyed in the zone of Bajo Caracoles, Olnie River (NW of Santa Cruz), enabling a proposed extension of the regional availability radius of good and very good quality rocks for flint knapping. The interpretation of petrographic thin sections increases the existing petrographic variability within the archaeological and macrocospic denomination of Basalto Posadas.
