Resumen
MERLO, Julio. Advances in the use of faunal resourses in the diet of the inhabitants of fortified sites in "Camino a Salinas" (area interserrana Bonaerense). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2007, n.8, pp.185-196. ISSN 1850-373X.
The goal of this research is to understand the economic activities of the inhabitants of fortified sites through the archaeofaunal record of the forts and fortlets in the area of the "Camino de los Indios a Salinas." Research focuses on the period from 1828, the founding of Fort Blanca Grande, to the late nineteenth century. The sample is composed of the following sites: Fuerte Blanca Grande, Fuerte San Martín, Fortín El Perdido and Fortín La Parva (Olavarría, Coronel Suárez, and General Alvear, respectively, Provincia de Buenos Aires). Although these are partial data, we propose that there was an increase in the consumption of domestic compared to wild fauna by the inhabitants of these fortified sites. Further research will confirm or otherwise the correlativity of faunal resource management with the advance of outposts southwest of the Salado River.
