BAYON, Cristina et al. Paso Mayor Archaeological Locality: New Sutides, 40 Years Later. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.1, pp.115-128. ISSN 1850-373X.

This paper is a synthesis of the studies carried out on the Paso Mayor archaeological collection from Coronel Pringles County, Buenos Aires Province. A. Austral performed fieldwork in the County during the 1960s; the resulting collection was curated at the Museo y Archivo Histórico Municipal de Bahía Blanca, where the authors have studied the materials during the last years. The data presented here correspond to the site originally called Yacimiento I by Austral. Lithic technology and toolstone provenience are characterized, archeofaunas are described and discussed, and human skeletal remains and mortuary practices are analyzed. The radiocarbon dates indicate a time span corresponding to Middle to Late Holocene occupations. Although studies are still preliminary, the richness and variety of lithic and ceramic technologies, of the archaeofaunistic remains, and the presence of burials are relevant to the discussion of human occupations in southwest Buenos Aires.
