Abstract

CARBONELLI, Juan Pablo. " reasons why and what for" in the lithic technology of a formative site in the Yocavil valley, Catamarca province. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.1, pp.31-44. ISSN 1850-373X.

In this paper a phenomenological approach to the lithic technology of a formative site, Soria 2, Banda Andalhuala, Yocavil Valley, Catamarca Province, is presented. The objective is to establish the interrelationship between social subjects and raw materials in a site with domestic characteristics. As such, the production sequence of the most relevant raw materials are reconstructed and the amount of labor invested in the tools and the contexts in which they participated are noted. From the results it was observed that there was a differential exploitation of raw materials. Each was categorized differently according to the motivations that were put into play at the moment of their transformation into instruments. The data obtained is important because of the lack of information on the lithic technology of the valley’ s formative societies.

Keywords : Reasons; Formative; Sequence of production; Raw materials.
