APOLINAIRE, Eduardo y SILVA, Carolina. Lithic technology studies at the Alfar archeological site (General Pueyrredón, Buenos Aires province). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.2, pp.525-536. ISSN 1850-373X.
This article discusses the technological strategies implemented by the human groups that inhabited the lower Corrientes stream from the technomorphological analysis of lithic artifacts recovered at Alfar site. The flintknapping activities and the diferential explotaition of raw materials acording to procedence are addressed. Furthermore, the lithic assamblage of Alfar site is compared with materials from other sites of the Atlantic coast. It is noteworthy that the archaeological remains from Alfar site has been recovered on paleolake sediments located on the dune strip. This allows comparison of the superficial lithic contexts with the stratigraphical context of Alfar. On the other hand, the temporal assignation of the site expands the scarce archaeological information regarding to middle Holocene in pampean coast.
