The heterogeneity of issues in bioarchaeological and paleopathological studies requires debate on the quality and relevance of the information obtained. In this paper, the results of the First National Workshop of Bioarchaeology and Paleopathology (14th-16th May 2012, Buenos Aires, Argentina) are presented. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the specific problems associated with sex determination and age-at-death estimation. There were ten papers given and 50 participants, all of whom contributed to establishing common understandings essential for bioarchaeological and paleopathological research.
