Resumen
OTAOLA, Clara y LLANO, Carina L. Consumo de vegetales y animales en el sur de Mendoza: el caso del sitio Cueva Palulo. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.1, pp.221-235. ISSN 1850-373X.
In this article zooarchaeological and archaeobotanical analysis of materials found in Palulo Cave site are presented. The site is located in a valley adjacent to the Atuel river in southern Mendoza Province. The materials were analyzed in response to questions pertinent to the region, such as a proposed process of intensification. Site formation processes and taphonomic issues are addressed prior to interpretation of the consumption of these resources in order to avoid misunderstandings about the use of plants and animals by hunter-gatherer populations that inhabited the region. The results obtained indicate that there is no clear evidence at the site of the intensification model proposed for the region at around 2000 years BP as characterized in the literature. There is an intensification in the exploitation of the guanacos but there is no incorporation of low return rate resources or a diminution of high return resources.
