Resumen

SANTOS VALERO, Florencia. Contribuciones al conocimiento de la tecnología lítica en el valle inferior del río Colorado: sitio El Puma 3 (provincia de Buenos Aires). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.1, pp.237-255. ISSN 1850-373X.

The present article summarizes the main technological trends resulting from the study of El Puma 3 lithic assemblage, chronologically assignable to the initial Late Holocene (ca. 3000-1000 years BP). The analyses were aimed at identifying the choices made throughout the reduction sequence, particularly those related to tool production and raw material acquisition. The information generated enabled similar technological trends (raw material selection, artefactual categories represented, etc.) to be identified for this site to those that were established for the study area during this period. New variants of flintknapping methods and techniques were also recorded.. In addition, the data that resulted from the analysis enabled models of quartzitic-rock acquisition to be revised. The high frequency of grinding stones, hammer stones, and “test pebbles” recorded at the site is another of its remarkable aspects, and on the basis of which the site was provisioned with tools and raw materials.

Palabras clave : Lithic technology; Hunter-gatherers; Initial late Holocene; Pampean-Patagonian transition.
