Abstract
PALLO, María Cecilia and BORRERO, Luis Alberto. Arqueología de corredores boscosos en Patagonia Meridional: el caso del río Guillermo (SO de la provincia de Santa Cruz, Argentina). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp.313-326. ISSN 1850-373X.
This paper presents a case of study of the forest corridors that connect the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans in South Patagonia. An archaeological survey was performed in Cancha Carrera (province of Santa Cruz, Argentina), supported by GIS, in order to examine artifact distributions, human movement, and winter stress conditions. It is concluded that the east was included within the home ranges of hunter-gatherers inhabiting the west, through a system of logistical exploitation. The sporadic use of the Cancha Carrera zone is probably based on the existence of a low difficulty pass with access to transmontane areas.
