Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp.339-351. ISSN 1850-373X.
This paper examines the relationship between structure and social practices through an analysis of Cruz Vinto, a pukara from the Late Regional Developments Period (1200-1450 AD) in Northern Lípez (Bolivia). Given the recursive nature of the relationship, the interpretation encompasses both the structuration of landscape, considered a horizon of intelligibility that provides resources for people’s action, and activities carried out in domestic space. Three lines of evidence from the site are included: spatiality, architecture, and ceramics. A model is proposed in which the daily activities of the inhabitants of the pukara were framed by a corporate landscape, where ancestors present as tower-chullpas, along with other materialities, formed part of the recursive structure of practice. As most of the ceramic assemblage was associated with consumption, it is proposed that the relationship between practice and structure revolved around ancestrality and the incorporation of a corporate habitus through food and drink sharing.
