Abstract

CASSIODORO, Gisela; ESPINOSA, Silvana; FLORES CONI, Josefina  and  GONI, Rafael. Disponibilidad de recursos líticos y movilidad durante el Holoceno tardío en el centro-oeste de la provincia de Santa Cruz. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.16, suppl.1, pp.75-86. ISSN 1850-373X.

The characteristics of the regional lithic resources base in central western Santa Cruz present a high frequency, distribution and variety of raw materials of excellent quality for knapping that includes black obsidian as well as basalts, siliceous rocks and siltstone. Thus, in this context, where the acquisition of lithic raw materials was not a problem to be solved, we seek to evaluate how technology responds to the way hunter-gatherer groups organized the use of regional landscape and to the mobility strategies developed. In this paper we present a synthesis of the location and properties of the main raw materials in the region, where systematic surveys were conducted since 1980`s. Here we seek to outline the characteristics of the use of these resources during the Late Holocene. Regardless of the different distances between the provisioning sources and the areas where these raw materials were used, groups´ moblity patterns would have influenced the accessibility to all the raw materials presented.
