In recent years, the knowledge about the use of pottery in the Pampean and North Patagonian regions has been strengthened through the detection of new sites and the performance of new radiocarbon dates. Although several lines of evidence (e.g., lithic technology, subsistence, mortuary practices, stable isotopes, etc.) have been explored in the lower basin of the Colorado River, detailed studies related to pottery have not been informed yet. The aim of this paper is to discuss the techno-morphological characteristics of the pottery assemblage recovered at the Loma Ruiz 1 site as well as to explore aspects related with its production, use and function. The chronology of the site (ca. 1900-1600 years BP; Initial Late Holocene) will be related to the temporal trends previously proposed for the adoption of this technology in Pampa and North Patagonia.
