Resumen
RIZZO, Florencia. Sitio Acevedo 1: restos humanos en el bosque del noroeste de Patagonia (localidad de Río Pico, provincia del Chubut). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp.131-133. ISSN 1850-373X.
Results obtained from the analysis of human remains recovered from Acevedo 1 site are presented. Acevedo 1 is a rock shelter with rock art located near Río Pico locality (Chubut Province, Argentina). The general composition of the sample is presented, together with the estimated minimum number of individuals, sex determination, and estimation of age at death. In addition, the archaeological context is characterized through a preliminary survey of the taphonomic agents involved, and possible mortuary practices at the site are discussed. Results suggest that only rock art painting and burials of human remains took place at Acevedo 1. These results enable Acevedo 1 to play a role in the general discussion of the human occupation of the center-west area of Chubut Province during the late Holocene, and invite comparison with other similar sites in Patagonia.
