PEREYRA DOMINGORENA, Lucas and BUGLIANI, María Fabiana. Las vasijas de Bordo Marcial: una caracterización integradora de un conjunto alfarero del período Formativo en el Noroeste Argentino. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.2, pp.255-266. ISSN 1850-373X.
BORDO MARCIAL VESSELS: AN INTEGRATIVE CHARACTERIZATION OF A POTTERY ASSEMBLAGE FROM FORMATIVE PERIOD NORTHWEST ARGENTINA. This paper presents the results of the analyses carried out on the pottery found at Bordo Marcial site, a Formative Period village (500 BC – AD 900) located in the Cajón Valley, Catamarca, Argentina. A methodology was implemented that included the study of technical processes, form, and design, which resulted in the identification of nine pastes, five morphological groups, and three representational techniques. These dimensions were analyzed in an integrated way to understand the production and consumption of potter’s tools at Bordo Marcial. The results suggest the elaboration and use of pots of local manufacture and others of non-local origin in the same domestic context. Likewise, the study of foreign ceramic materials provides information about networks of interaction between the village of Bordo Marcial and other regions, such as the Rosario-Lerma basin and the Southern Puna of Northwest Argentina.
