Abstract

RAVIOLO, A.; AGUILAR, A.; RAMIREZ, P.  and  LOPEZ, E.. Two analogies in teaching the scientific model concept: Analysis of classrooms observations. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.1, pp.61-70. ISSN 1850-6666.

Teaching about scientific models´ nature, as part of the nature of science, it is a priority objective recognised in science teaching. The purpose of this work is to verify the efficacy of a certain didactic proposal based on the use of analogies to understand the scientific model concept. It is presented a research design carried out by prospective teachers which includes the application of two analogies: black box and maps. Both analogies have been improved in relation to what is developed in bibliography. In this work, the students` achievements are exhibited in qualitative terms, using class analysis observations and self-evaluation questionnaire. It is proved here that this proposal resulted in an advance in the understanding of the science model and modelling concept as well as nature of analogies as a pedagogic resource.

Keywords : Nature of science; Model concept; Teaching and learning with analogies.
