Abstract

LOPEZ, M. Peso diferencial que ostentan variables cognitivas y no cognitivas en el rendimiento matemático. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2016, vol.11, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1850-6666.

Thanks to the progress into the Cgnitive Psychology field, many studies are proving the importance of executive functioning into the numerical task achievement. The main aim of this research was checking the relationship between some cognitives variables such as, visual shor term memoryo or concentrated and selective attention, in connection with mathematical achievement in different grades, further we also try to settle the influence that verbal variables could hold in the mathematical achievement. The participants of this research was 153 students (80 boys and 73 girls), they were distributed in two different courses, fourth grade Primary (78 students, distributed into three groups) and second grade Secondary (75 students, in three groups too). Both groups were applied two neuropsychological batteries (Evalúa-4 and BADyG respectively), in order to try to correlate the scores obtained on verbal, numerical and cognitive tests. The results proven a greater influence on cognitive variables in second grade Secondary than in fourth grade Primary, in which the verbal factors had a greater weight of influence on mathematical performance, even it was higher than Attention and Memory.

Keywords : Dyscalculia; Attention; Short Term Memory; Verbal Factors.
