Abstract

MURILLO PULGARIN, José Antonio; CARRASQUERO DURAN, Armando  and  CANADA CANADA, Florentina. La química para todos y para todo: Una propuesta didáctica gerontagógica. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.2, pp.01-09. ISSN 1850-6666.

In order to promote positive attitudes towards chemistry, a didactic proposal, based on the principles of gerontagogy, was developed for the students enrolled in the course Chemistry for everyone and for everything of the University Program for Older Adults "José Saramago 50+". The proposal was composed of eleven lessons on various aspects of chemistry in relation to daily life, experimental demonstrations in class and ten laboratory activities to be carried out by students. The ACTITUD50 + test was applied to the group of students enrolled in the subject and to another group of non-enrolled students, in order to evaluate the initial attitude. Changes in attitude with the same instrument were measured once the didactic intervention was completed. The enrolled students showed a more positive attitude and greater interest in continuing to learn chemistry, while the other people maintained their initial attitudes. It was concluded that the attitude of a person towards chemistry, as well as towards any aspect of his life, must be based on a deeper and objective knowledge about that aspect. This will give rise to an autonomous attitude, not influenced by interest alien to the own person, for which, the gerontagogy is presented as an efficient and effective tool for the education of the elderly.
