Abstract

CORTEZ, Jheniffer Micheline  and  KIOURANIS, Neide Maria Michellan. Concepções de Natureza da Ciência de futuros Professores de Química: reflexões a partir de um Programa de Formação orientado para a História e Filosofia da Ciência. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2019, vol.14, n.2, pp.45-63. ISSN 1850-6666.

This study sought to understand which conceptions about the Nature of Science are explained by future teachers of Chemistry and how an Initial Formation Program, oriented to History and Philosophy of Science can influence these visions. Six senior chemistry undergraduate students participated in the context of the Supervised Internship. In order to compile the data, we used the questionnaires "Views of Nature of Science Questionnaire (VNOS)" by Lederman et al. (2002) and "Views on Science and Education Questionnaire (VOSE)" by Chen (2006). The first questionnaire, with 10 open questions, was analyzed from categories established a priori, and the second, composed of 15 questions with different degrees of agreement, was examined based on the calculation of the average ranking of agreement with the affirmations. Next, we sought to classify the conceptions based on the views of Science discussed by Cachapuz et. al. (2005). It was possible to identify, through the analysis of empirical information, some notions that science is a human construct and influenced by its production context. However, some nuances such as the importance of scientific method and experimentation, as well as the difference between theories and laws still need to be clarified and in-depth. It was also possible to understand that the Formation Program experienced by the undergraduate students contributed significantly to these future teachers to understand in a more contextualized way, about science and its construction, especially with regard to the aspects worked in classroom activities, such as the subjective character of science, the proposition of models and the creativity and imagination of the scientist in the scientific making.
