In primary education, most teachers highlights the difficulties that students show in their understanding of scientific texts and in some cases, also the progressive demotivation observed toward reading science books. There are many obstacles that emerge from textbooks, e.g., vocabulary, or images or graphics employed which not arouse much interest as compared to other multimedia resources. Currently, there are resources that use Augmented Reality that can be applied to the educational context, making it easier for students to manipulate virtual objects through markers as if they were real objects, performing these operations naturally and intuitively, without any additional hardware mediating the student-computer relationship. This work shows the results of an university extension experience developed in 2014, where Augmented Reality technology for teaching topics covered in Natural Sciences at the primary level is used.
