Abstract

CAFEZEIRO, Isabel; COSTA, Leonardo Cruz da; MARQUES, Ivan da Costa  and  KUBRUSLY, Ricardo. Interleaved paths in the configuration of the academic field of Information Systems in Brazil. Rev. iberoam. tecnol. educ. educ. tecnol. [online]. 2019, n.23, pp.7-13. ISSN 1851-0086.

This article resumes moments of the path of construction of third-level courses in computer science in Brazil and abroad. The aim is to understand the characterization of undergraduate courses in Information Systems as courses that have "computation as a means" in contrast to other that are classified as courses that have "computation as an end". In the analysis of this division we address the following two tensions:  the option for a Brazilian path in opposition to a foreign model and the option for an interdisciplinary course in opposition to a course centered in the exact sciences.

Keywords : Information systems; Higher education; Technology; Society.
