Resumen

MOYANO, Gonzalo. THE USE OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAMMETRY AS A COMPLEMENTARY RECORD IN ARCHAEOLOGY. SCOPE OF THE TECHNIQUE AND CASES OF APPLICATION. Comechingonia [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.2, pp.1-8. ISSN 1851-0027.

In the last decades, Digital Archaeology has become an important field in Archaeology. The advance of this techniques and methods constitute an exceptional set of tools for the archaeological research in the main academic centers. However, the rapid advance in the use of these techniques occurs unevenly, postponing its development in many regions of the world, for example, Latin America.  In this paper we analyze the use of Digital Photogrammetry in Argentinean Archaeology, trying to define its scope and limitations. This technique allows to construct models in three dimensions from conventional photographs of almost any type of objects. We present three cases of applications: a model of an excavated enclosure, the recording of a lithic statuette and the creation of an orthophotography of an excavated enclosure. The images were processed with the specialized software AgisoftPhotoscan©, which runs in semiautomatic processes. With this work we were able to recognize the software potential and the metric errors of the built models.
