LARCHER, Nicolás y CREMONTE, M. Beatriz. ONE UPDATE ON THE PETROGRAPHIC VARIATION AND CHEMISTRY OF INCA PACAJES CERAMIC STYLE.. Comechingonia [online]. 2018, vol.22, n.1, pp.1-10. ISSN 1851-0027.
New results concerning paste analysis of Inca Pacajes ceramic style are presented. These analyses were focused on two analytical strategies, the petrography of thin sections (N = 34) and chemical analyses by X-ray Fluorescence (N = 20). The results obtained from the incorporation of new samples and the evaluation of the modal distribution of the petrographic components by point counting allowed us to verify the fabric groups previously defined (Cremonte et al, 2015) and their elations with the local geologies. The samples analyzed come from archaeological sites in northwestern Argentina, southern Bolivia and northern Chile. Most of the pastes are clustered in the same compositional group, characterized by the abundance of pumice stone and glass sherds, although in NOA greater differences were recorded. Petrographic and chemical variation present in Inca Pacajes pastes depending on its geographical distribution and possible production areas are discussed.
