Abstract

An exploratory study was carried out in order to inquire about young men's social representations of social and psychosocial crisis, with different educational levels, living in the city of Buenos Aires and its surroundings. This paper is based on Grounded Theory, with semistructured interviews developed until the theoretical saturation was achieved. As a result, crisis are negatively connoted. Participants point out the existence of different kinds of crisis, which are categorized as inner or external. The "core" crises are central to the definition of the self. As for the crisis resolution strategies, most of the participants agree with action. Perseveranse is the most useful way of coping. The educational level attained influences the crisis social representation and its personal evaluation.
