This article is about the spread of advise on child care between 1930 and 1960 in Buenos Aires. We have selected different magazines and books oriented to general public and we looked for the changes in the way the experts had defined the children, the mother's role in the upbringing and in the perception of the relationships between adults and children. We thought that the innovations in child rearing advised were related to the diffusion of a new psychological model clearly influenciated by psychoanalytical ideas and practices.
