AISENSON, Diana et al. The Meaning Of Study And Work For Young People Finishing Secondary School: Analysis From The Point Of View Of The Vocational Psychology. Anu. investig. [online]. 2008, vol.15, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1686.
This study analizes the meanings that the young people who are finishing secondary school build about study and work. It shows the results of a questionnare given to 1339 senior students of fifteen public schools of the City of Buenos Aires, in the framework of the research P062, UBACYT 2004/2007 programme. A factorial analysis was made for the following six questions: the concept of study; the meaning of study; the reasons for choosing higher education; the reasons why people work; models of work and important aspects of jobs. The results suggest a general dimension that relates study and work with the personal development and the possibility of growth. It also shows another specific and instrumental dimension, that in the instance of study it refers to acquire personal competences and to facilitate the working insertion, and in the instance of work, to improve the job conditions and to reach working welfare. Both activities help to achieve an integral development and to search for a place in the society.
