Resumen

The research Project "Social representations of work and study made by youth studying different levels of secondary school" (UBACyT 2008-2010) proposes to describe social representations of work and school made by youths studying different levels of secondary school in public schools in Buenos Aires city, investigating the variations that exist according to educational level, gender and social context. The instrument built for this purpose, which will be applied to a sample of 1000 youths studying from the first to the last year of secondary school, is particularly presented. It is considered that these social representations are central in the constitution of future intentions and professional preferences, affecting the development of personal and professional identities throughout lifetime. These social representations are the result of psychological process, which interact with social insertions, including cognitive, value and attitude phenomena that manage behaviors.
