This article reviews the scientific literature concerning to the combination of pharmacological and psychological treatments. We include studies that evaluate the combined treatment in PubMed and PsycINFO databases and show the best methodological rigor. Also, we comment the clinical guidelines with major diffusion in the mental health field. The most important developments was made in depressive disorders, where the simultaneous combination is specific for chronic depression and cross-over combination in recurrent depression (more specifically in those cases with 3 or more depressive episodes).
