LEGASPI, Leandro et al. Visions and expectations of work: Study of young people from different educational circuits. Anu. investig. [online]. 2010, vol.17, pp.181-190. ISSN 1851-1686.

In a context of insecurity and vulnerability there is substantial inequality in the education and employment paths of young people, depending on their social status and the educational circuit they belong to. This article focuses on the values and the meanings of work that young people, from different educational circuits, have. We also emphasize how work experiences affect the representations, the meanings and the importance (absolute and relative) of work. The results expose the relevance that different contexts of belonging have, to the visions and expectations of work, as well as the educational and employment trajectories. Thus, young people who belong to the Low Educational Circuit are more likely to look for a job because of contextual factors, than youth from the High Educational Circuit. Indeed, they would prioritize subjective aspects of work related with autonomy and personal growth.

Palavras-chave : Young people; Educational Circuit; Work; Orientation.
