Starting with an exposition of an emphatic (and especially critical of psychoanalytic developments) conception of freedom developed by Sartre, at the irst moments of his philosophy, we will show that the objections that Sartre made to the Freudian psychoanalysis can be saved by the Lacanian perspective. In a second instance, we will reconstruct the context of the psychoanalytic notion of choice according to a central clinical operator in the etiology of neurosis, the notion of trauma. We will then emphasize the subject's participation in the event and the choice that underlies such participation. Finally, in the conclusions sec- tion, we will highlight how some fundamental aspects of the Sartrean project can be incorporated to Lacan's psychoanalysis, collaborating with the explanation of the psychoanalytic notion of choice moment.
