In the Seminar 11 a meticulous elaboration that introduces the objet gaze as paradigm of the objet in psychoanalysis is presented. In the series of classes that carry out this purpose Lacan adds to his exposition a detailed commentary on Merleau-Ponty's The Visible and the Invisible. However, ¿what is the incidence of this commentary? We intend to expose how Merleau-Pontyan phenomenology of the visible (and the invisible) offers a method of approach to the notion of object that turns out to be prolific enough to formalize what Lacan intended to delimit through his notion of object a as gaze in that seminar.
