This research "Das Ding and the limits of symbolization", is part of research project "The melancholy.From love to drive". The aim is make an inquiry about the term thing, german Ding, and how through different re-elaborations, said term goes to the category of concept. It seeks to place from certain refinements, interference or not on the difficulties of symbolization found in psychoses and especially melancholy. Representation and affection, thought and libido, are not separated for psychoanalysis. How to locate the passage from the thing in the world to its mental representation, its capacity as object of the drive control and its value as a depositary total affection love-hate object.
