SOSA, Fernanda et al. Social representation of argentine history: relevant figures, feelings and believes. Anu. investig. [online]. 2013, vol.20, n.1, pp.241-250. ISSN 1851-1686.
The individual process of remembering is influenced by social context, which determines and conditions the way individuals perceive and interpret reality. The study of Social Representations of History (SRH) includes a system of values that order the world and proposes a shared code of meanings (Farr, 1986). The overall objective of this paper is to explore in SRH, in figures that individuals mention as relevants when thinking in Argentina history. For this purpose a modified version of the self-administered questionnaire designed by Liu et al. (2005) was apllied to an intentional sample composed by 262 participants from Buenos Aires city. Results verify the presence of war and nostalgic bias, the evocation of figures associated with political leadership, and a profile of values in participants oriented to social over individual motives.
