Abstract

GUEGLIO, Constanza  and  SEIDMANN, Susana. Social representations of success in young university students. Anu. investig. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.1, pp.143-150. ISSN 1851-1686.

This paper seeks to explain the social representations of "success" in university students living in the City of Buenos Aires, with the aim of analyzing how these meanings contribute to the construction of identity and how it affect the formation of their life project. For this, a qualitative and quantitative methodology was used. In the qualitative phase, interviews with 18 university students were conducted. From emerging categories of qualitative step, a quantitative instrument was constructed and applied to 100 university students of both sexes. By triangulating the data, the social representation of success was mainly associated with social recognition, objectiied in three levels: work, relationship and money. Anchoring the social representation of success, appears in two dimensions: one related to the current socio-historical moment and another linked to traditional middle-class values.
