This article proposes to give a preview of the master´s scholarship plan: "Character: defense against the real and /or testimony of the real itself. A conceptual journey and its impact on clinical psychoanalysis". Its framework is 2013-2016 UBACyT Project: "Symptom- Sinthome: The freudian ingerprints on the last teaching of Lacan", directed by Prof. Dr. Osvaldo L. Delgado. The aim of this paper is to analyse the Freudian developments about character concept, with the purpose of carry out a counterpoint with the elaboration that Wilhelm Reich makes in the book Character analysis. To this end, it will be examined two readings about the character presents in Freud work. First, it articulates with the primary defenseas a paradigm of obsessional neurosis. The second reading comes from the link between the character traits with fixation and repetition compulsion.
