Abstract

BARTOLOME, Mara Alejandra. Pergamino, la inundación y sus versiones. Avá [online]. 2006, n.9, pp.132-146. ISSN 1851-1694.

This paper purpots to analyze the social construction of an environmental event, such as the periodical floodings suffered by Pergamino, a city of 99,193 inhabitants (INDEC 2001), located in the Northwest of the Buenos Aires province, in Argentine. Based on field work carried out in that location between 1999 and 2003, I shall discuss how "natural events" (the flood) are interpretate and instrumented by local social actors in order to serve their strategic interests. To such purpose I will focus in the different "versions" managed by the involved actors and how these influence their behavior.

Keywords : Floods; Risks; Versions; Management.
