Resumen

RAUSKY, María Eugenia. La calle y los niños: estrategias laborales en espacios públicos. Avá [online]. 2011, n.19, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

Work performed by boys and girls in public spaces in La Plata city led us to consider the specificity of child labor when performed in contexts of public nature. In what ways do children and their relatives-who frequently accompany them- practice and represent the working space? How does it affect the meaning they assign to their work? Our questions are basically orientated to think the construction of the working experience in such a particular environment as the streets. In general, we identified that this space does not merely represent a material base for them: the street is segmented and sense given by those who work there. The meanings and ways in which the children and their parents relate to the working space are not singular but multiple and sometimes contradictory: both children and adults, although inserted in contexts with constricted possibilities, create and invent ways of practicing and regulating the working space and the work itself.

Palabras clave : Child Labor; Working in Public Spaces; Job Specificity.
