Abstract

GOMEZ, Raimundo Elías  and  FERRERO, Brián Germán. Governance and environmentalism in the Paranaense jungle. Avá [online]. 2012, n.20, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

The article describes the main elements of the current configuration of environmentalism in northern areas of Misiones province. The central themes are the ways in which transnational agencies linkages face projections and conservation interventions in buffer zones of Protected Natural Areas. These presences and activities point to the emergence and consolidation of a new style of environmental governance, marked by the tension between development and conservation. The main conservation and development projects encouraged by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), and AECID (Spanish Agency for International Development) thus constitute the pillars on which governance, environmentalism, and conservation of much of the Paranaense jungle in Misiones is based.

Keywords : Governability; Sustainable Development; Environmentalism.
