Through a systematic research in the Brazilian literature, this article aims to review scientific publications between 2000 and 2009 about refugees. The research was done between September 2008 and April 2009 in "Scielo" and "Lilacs" databases, using the key word "refugiado(s)" and its corresponding term in English. Seventeen articles were found with this method. There are still few articles published in Brazil about the subject and there is a tendency to prefer the descriptive approach - descriptions of legislations, projects, history, together with a critical perspective even though not always based on the analysis of the situation of refugees in the country.
