The period of probation is analyzed in the case of women. They must face differentially disadvantageous circumstances respect of men; marking the different conditions that characterized this period for women that are, in general, organized by a strong emotional and material instability to confront the challenges to come and, therefore, with more chances of failure and relapse. They have lost their social status and their life options are even more strangles after having travelled through a tortuous way of life, in which they have built vague and instable identities, placing themselves in the area of social disapproval for being a “bad woman” and a “bad mother”. It is the extension, in the criminal scope, of all the things that are brought into play in this period. They are impoverished in all levels: material, communicational, symbolic, and emotional, lacking emotional resources and social skills.
