Abstract

COWAN ROS, Carlos  and  NUSSBAUMER, Beatriz. Retorno a la comunidad. Avá [online]. 2013, n.22, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

The paper analyses the meanings and practices related to “indigenous community”. This is one of the symbolic elements that contributes to the specificity of the kolla ethnic group and, thus contributes to the delimitation of its social universe. An ethnographic analysis applied to six villages of the Yavi region, reveals the meanings of community, the norms related to the sense of belonging and the behaviour logics inside the group. Finally, the paper discusses the notion of “indigenous community” as a filiation principle that, as along with others -kinship, religion networks, politics, etc.- builds up the sociability configuration of the region.

Keywords : Indigenous community; Ethnicity; Significance.
