Abstract

RODRIGUEZ, Carolina  and  GLAUSER, Marcos. Mapeo Participativo en parte del Tekoha Guasú, Territorio Mbyá Guaraní. Avá [online]. 2014, n.24, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

In 1992 the Paraguayan government declared 78,000 hectares of Mbyá Guaraní territory as San Rafael National Park Reserve, without the consent of indigenous communities settled there and without respecting international regulations. Given this, Mbyá communities initiated several strategies to defend their traditional territory or Tekoha Guasú. This work shows the experience of building a participatory mapping methodology for achieving valid results for the Mbyá and for paraguayan institutions. The information obtained in this work is copyrighted by the Mbyá Guaraní. The agroecology, interested in the interactions that occur between nature and society, is useful to incorporate elements of traditional knowledge related to land management policies. There are descriptions of traditional activities: agriculture, hunting, fishing, gathering; always trying to give an historical and cultural context.

Keywords : Participatory Mapping; Tekoha Guasú; Mbyá Guaraní; Agroecology.
