Abstract

GIRAUDO, Alejandro R.  and  ARZAMENDIA, Vanesa. Una Experiencia Transdisciplinaria de Conservación en El Sitio Ramsar Jaaukanigás (Santa Fe, Argentina). Avá [online]. 2014, n.24, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

Because of the close relationship between nature and society, the so-called "biodiversity crisis" are really "socio-environmental crisis." The creation of protected areas is one of the main actions developed by both, government and non-governmental institutions (NGOs), to address these socio-environmental crises. In this paper, we address the development of a model of protected area that promotes sustainable use of resources and community participation, the Jaaukanigás Ramsar Site in the Paraná River (Province of Santa Fe, Argentina), a wetland that possess an extraordinary biological and cultural diversity. In this contribution we analyze and discuss 13 years of management in the Ramsar Site Jaaukanigás as a way to analyze successes, failures, and transfer a transdisciplinary and participative experience, which rarely has been developed as conservation model in Argentina.

Keywords : Protected Areas; Conservation; Transdisciplinarity; Community Participation.
